Dance Cram for Improv II

Saturday, May 22, 10am-1pm
Cost: $10

Ages 17+
$10 for the class
No dance experience required!

Attention: actors, improvisers, and other dance-curious folk!

How do you know when something is jazz versus hip hop? Tap vs. Irish step dancing? In this Dance Cram, you’ll learn the basics of many difference dance styles and what about them makes them different.

You’ll get to watch some classic dance numbers from the movies and learn how to copy their style. We’ll vary the steps for more dance content and discuss comedic possibilities. You’ll leave with a few routines in your back pocket! Great for anyone looking for a few new dance steps.

Don’t worry — we’ll keep you on the ground — no leaps, lifts, or splits. All ages and experience levels welcome. No partner required.

Please wear flat, leather-soled shoes with a back. Tennis/workout shoes are okay.

Please note: This class is for actors and improvisers; registration is subject to approval.

About the instructor: Ann Kwinn grew up dancing with the Westchester Lariats – a folk and social dance company – and later became Artistic Director. She taught hip hop for The Young Olympians and ballroom for Arthur Murray. Ann served as choreographer for The Kentwood Players.
