Ventura’s own Marty Knowlton, co-founder of Elderhostel, has passed on. From Elderhostel’s site:

Marty Knowlton co-founded Elderhostel in 1975 with David Bianco. The organization they created changed the perceptions of aging by introducing a new understanding of older adults as active, engaged learners, travelers and explorers. It also changed lives in the process, ushering in an era of active learning in retirement. Since Elderhostel’s founding, more than four million people have experienced our programs.

VIC is proud to have been involved with Elderhostel for many years now,  performing for and interacting with Elderhostel groups regularly. Elderhostel groups are always lively, interested, and engaged. We are grateful to Marty and David for founding this wonderful organization!
