Transport Theatre is back! With our sights set on developing a new small professional theatre company in Ventura, we are poised to begin our journey with a six-week class, taught by Taylor Kasch and Linda Livingston. This 3-hour class will consist of both scene study work and auditioning skills. The class will be limited to 12, and to those who already have some theatre experience.

About the Instructors

Taylor Kasch was the founding Artistic Director of The San Francisco Actors Theater, as well as the Flying H Group based in Ojai, CA. An award-winning director and actor, Taylor staged the West Coast premier of Kathyrn Anne Jone’s Calamity Jane; the world premier of Beggars the Musical, co-written with Richard Dewhurst and with music by Jimmy Calire; and the Southern California Premier of Ray Harder’s Song of Survival, among many others. In addition to directing, acting and writing, Taylor is a noted acting teacher and was on-set coach for the BBC series Out There in Australia. His former students can be seen regularly on television and in films. Taylor was a student of Stella Adler and her protege Jean Shelton for many years.

Linda Livingston, also an award-winning actor and director, was named by the VC Reporter in 2007 as one of the “people to watch”. She has performed on stages from the Goodman in Chicago, to the Rubicon in Ventura, to a professional touring Shakespearean troupe in the Seattle area. Her training includes Pasquilini-Smith, Seattle (Meisner; Shakespeare); Frederick Combs, LA (Uta Hagen); as well as Ellen Geer. Her work has aired on NPR as well as the Independent Film Channel (Brightness with Eric Idle). She has directed shows at Santa Paula Theatre Center, Elite Theatre (Oxnard), Backlot Theatre (El Dorado Hills), The Odyssey (LA) and has taught classes at SPTC, Focus on the Masters, LaBelle (Santa Barbara), Young Performers Studio and Northwest Actors Studio (Seattle), and Liberty Christian School (Thousand Oaks.)

About Transport Theatre

Transport Theatre brought you Wit, which wowed LA audiences and brought an ovation nomination for its lead, Linda Livingston. Reviews included:

  • Critic’s Pick (American Radio)
  • “Gut wrenching passion, compelling theatre” (The Tolucan)
  • “We feel every step of that terrifying passage; recommended” (LA Times)
  • “Tremendous; rock solid” (Glendale News Press)

Transport also produced the wildly popular Judy’s Scary Little Christmas, which played to sold-out houses. Not coincidentally, Taylor directed Linda in Female Transport, during his Flying H years. That was the original inspiration for the name Transport; and since there is no permanent theatre home, the name is also an apt description. While productions will be transported to different venues, the audiences will be transported to another world of provocative pieces rarely seen in the area.
