Ventura Improv Company brings the laughs with the new decade
After-party has been added this year

Ventura, CA — December 15, 2009 — Ventura Improv Company (VIC), the comedy institution in downtown Ventura, will host two fabulous events to raise money and ring in the new year.

The ever-popular New Year’s Eve Gala will be the first event on the menu, featuring a comedy improv show, appetizer and dessert buffets, and a fabulous raffle. The festivities will run from 7-10:30pm.

That show will be followed by a Masked Ball After-Party, where guests will dance to the sound of Ventura’s own Los Dudes. Admission will include two drink tickets. A full cash bar will be available all evening. The event will run from 11pm to approximately 1am.

“We’re so excited to be able to offer more fun for the night,” says Becky Haycox, Marketing Coordinator for the VIC. “Our Gala is a favorite that always sells out, and the After-Party is an added attraction. It’s VIC’s 20th birthday, so we want to send off 2009 with extra fanfare.”

The Gala almost always draws a sell-out crowd. Part of its appeal is the early starting and ending time, making a family-friendly atmosphere. “With the event ending at 10:30, our younger guests can get home at a reasonable time,” Haycox says. “And this year, people have the choice to continue the party at the VIC.”

Gala tickets: $25/person, and $15 for ages 16 and under. Please note: No other discounts or complimentary tickets can be honored for this special show.

Masked Ball After-Party tickets: $25/person. This show is for ages 21 and older.

Package deal tickets: $40/person for both shows.

About Ventura Improv Company

In 1989, an improviser from the Bay Area TheatreSports™ group came to visit her mother in Santa Paula and while there she put on an improv workshop. At that time, there were a handful of performers doing improv in Ventura, and several of them, including current leaders of the group, Gary Best and Tom Mueller, attended that workshop. The two considered that workshop “a revelation,” and went on to form a local TheatreSports™ league.

In the two decades since then, the group has grown in both size and scope and recently created an exciting new vision and strategic plan that they hope will accelerate the growth of their current audience and the scope of their future offerings.
