Ventura Improv Fest Schedule

TICKETS FOR SALE ONLINE NOW!  We bring back our beloved tradition — three nights of comedy improv, just for you! We will welcome groups from all over California on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of Labor Day weekend — September 4, 5 and 6. Don’t miss the fun; join the VIC family for this amazing event!

For all three nights, we present two 2-hour show blocks (7-9pm and 9-11pm) featuring several performing groups per block. There is a bonus show at 6pm every night for anyone holding tickets for that night or a Megapass.

All shows take place at the Ventura Improv Company, 34 North Palm Street, Ventura. Click here for directions and parking.

Note: Online ticket ordering will close at 4pm for that evening’s shows. Tickets will be then available for purchase at the box office 1/2 an hour before showtime.

Please note: there may be adult content during this Fest.

  • Each show block (7-9pm or 9-11pm) is $15/person (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)
  • Special all-night pass (7-9pm AND 9-11pm shows): $20 (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)
  • All-weekend, all-show Megapass: $50
  • No other discounts apply. Regular-night ticket vouchers, coupons or Groupons will not be valid for this weekend.
  • Tickets must be purchased online in advance, or at the box office the night of the show starting 1/2 hour before showtime.

Minority ReportMinority Report (Los Angeles)
Chicago-trained improvisers that are anything but white. They are Asian, Black, Hispanic, and mixed. With their unique and clearly diverse backgrounds, they offer audiences to see improv outside of the norm. Make Your Own Damn SandwichMake Your Own Damn Sandwich (San Jose)
One of the most edgy, innovative, and entertaining performance groups in the Bay Area — and not afraid to go on a mission to find new ways to perform improv! They’ll look at a “missed connections” post on a classified website — and show what happens if that couple did meet and have a relationship. Kathy Klotz-Guest, Adam Rabinovitz, John Brewer.
Sea EnemySea Enemy (Los Angeles)
Justin and Ian have performed improv together for ten years. Since they’ve known each other for so long, this means they really stretch beyond the conventions of normal improv. Expect typical improv “no-no”s to become an intrinsic part of this dynamic, fast show. This is a 25 minute longform piece where characters often find themselves in their own personal heaven or hell. Justin Boisvert and Ian Ornstein.

Fancy Football ComedyFancy Football Comedy (Los Angeles)
Jodi and Holly both originate from Wisconsin and currently reside in Los Angeles. They have developed their own improv form “Butter Cake” that takes the audience into the life of two characters that will touch your heart and your funny bone (yay to cheesy sayings!). The pair also write and perform sketch comedy. Jodi Skeris and Holly McKee-Clark.
Old VegasOld Vegas (Los Angeles)
Five improvisors combine their distinct styles of play into a delightful collaboration. Each set ebbs and flows in speed and intensity and every scene connects, making Old Vegas performances dynamic and engaging. Adam Wasser, Nathan Ballard, Brian Robel, Jonas Sasone, Mitch Roche.
MonogamishMonogamish (Culver City)
Holly and Seth are a married pair of improvisors looking to spice up their stage life with special guests. They have over 30 years of combined improv experience and are using it to now explore the part of improv that interests them the most — relationships. Holly, Seth, and their guest dive into every type of human interaction possible in search of the true nature of what it means to deal with other humans. Holly and Seth Brown.
VIC and FriendsThe Musical Improv Mash-up Concert! (Ventura & Los Angeles)
Rasika & Matt performed in the same line-up twice and fell in deep, hardcore respect for each other’s random acts of music, mysticality and comedy! Now for the first time ever, these two wanna-be rappers are teaming up to bring you Improvised Blues, Rap Battles and Bollywood Dance Numbers. All we need are your loving audience suggestions. In Playback Theatre we use stories from the lives of audience members to fuel our performances.  At the festival, we’ll be looking for your stories about “labor”, whatever that means to you. With trained singers ranging across the vocal scale, we use every tool at our disposal to create the closest thing to a Broadway musical as we can get. Helium bounds through their sets with joyful ignorance of anything but the present moment. In this roller coaster ride of impulsions, anything could happen, but there’s a good chance that someone will be lifted, someone will be kissed, someone will run into the audience. Argo NavisSpontaneous Broadway

A Ventura Improv Company favorite! You, the audience will supply made-up song and show titles, which our Broadway hopefuls (our improvisers) will perform for you. You then vote for your favorite, and we build a long-form, Broadway-style musical! All made up, on the spot.
