Ventura, CA — February 1, 2010  — A comedy improv show dedicated to exploring all aspects of love will be the focus of Ventura Improv Company’s special Valentine’s event on February 13 at 8pm.

This ever-popular event staged by the Ventura Improv Company (VIC) will feature improv scenes, games and musical numbers exploring the ups and downs of love and romance. Audience suggestions will be an integral part of the show, which is entirely made up on the spot by the talented improv performers. The price of admission includes champagne or sparkling cider, chocolate, and flowers for the audience members. A new feature of the evening is a fabulous array of prizes that will be raffled off. Guests may buy raffle tickets at a dollar each.

The VIC, now in its 21st year, is a fixture of downtown Ventura. Audience members, many of them loyal attendees for years, always enjoy this yearly Valentine’s event. “It’s a departure from our usual weekend improv shows,” says Judy Gottlieb, Vice President of the VIC. “We love offering the special extras to the audience, and the night is often hilarious and touching at the same time.”

Tickets are $15/person, and $12 for ages 16 and under. All ages are welcome, though the show is recommended for ages 12 and above. Please note: No other discounts or complimentary tickets can be honored for this special show. Gift certificates may be used for the cost of  full-price tickets.

Reservations are recommended. More information or reservations can be obtained by calling  (805) 643-5701 x2 or emailing vicventuraimprov.com.

About Ventura Improv Company

In 1989, an improviser from the Bay Area TheatreSports™ group came to visit her mother in Santa Paula and while there she put on an improv workshop. At that time, there were a handful of performers doing improv in Ventura, and several of them, including current leaders of the group, Gary Best and Tom Mueller, attended that workshop. The two considered that workshop “a revelation,” and went on to form a local TheatreSports™ league.

In the years since then, Ventura Improv Company (VIC)  has grown in both size and scope, offering improv workshops for adults and youth, other movement classes, and comedy improv shows every Friday and Saturday night. Located in the historic Livery area of downtown Ventura, the theatre is a popular destination for visitors and locals alike. Both the VIC performers and theatre space are available for private events.
